This enchanting spot along the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was photographed early evening on the last day of my family vacation. Just about all week we battled hot and sunny days, with thunderstorms rolling through in the afternoon and evenings. Luckily we didn't have any bad storms on this visit and the sun was low enough in the sky to provide small pockets of beautiful shade. What a great way to end our vacation, an image that will always remind me of the beauty of the Appalachians.
