It was early in the morning when we reached Big Falls in State Game Lands 13 near Jamison City Pennsylvania. The sky was clear, not a great day for photographing waterfalls, but the sun had not yet risen above the surrounding mountains. Although I have photographed Big Falls many times in the past, this morning the color in the pool below the waterfall was just stunning.

This was the first stop on an incredible hike of State Game Lands 13. I had wanted to do the loop outlined by Jeff Mitchell in his book Hiking the Endless Mountains, and I finally had my chance. A group of us, lead by Raymond Chippa, made the 8+ mile trek through some of the most beautiful sections of streams in Pennsylvania. I'm looking forward to heading back already, hopefully on a cloudy day when it's more favorable for photographing waterfalls.
